iCare – Ukraine

John Paul II Center| Vienna – Susiec | Parish St. Nepomuk

Let us not grow tired of doing good“ – Pope Francis
„If now is not the time to become generous, when then?“ – Fr. George Elsbett LC

The war in the Ukraine touches us all very deeply. That is why we have decided to do something to help those who are in need right now. We have been given the opportunity to enter into a partnership with the Polish parish of St. Nepomuk in Susiec. Specifically, we want to support in four areas.

What we can do

PROVIDING SHELTER: WELCOMING REFUGEE FAMILIES

There are countless people fleeing war and seeking shelter. Are you a family and do you have the means and resources to host a family?

FINANCIAL DONATION

If it may not be possible for you to find these items, you can also support the work of the local parish by making a monetary donation. Is it possible for you to put something aside financially for this?

PRAY WITH US FOR THEM

Part of our partnership consists in prayer. Our intention: for those who have to flee and those who are affected by the war and those who help others on site. Would you like to join us in prayer?

Providing shelter

Do you have premises available or do you know someone who can and wants to offer refugee families accommodation? We are currently looking for families who would be willing to host other families. If you want to host a refugee family send us an email!

    Financial support

Of course, helping refugees also requires enormous financial resources. This is also an area where we as a community can help.

    PRAY WITH US FOR THEM

We also want to pray for the people on site, in the war zone and on the run. We are committed to making mutual, supportive prayer one of our four pillars of aid to Ukraine.

    .

We started an own prayer inciative. In order to encourage and motivate each other, we created an iPray Ukraine Google Sheet. There you can inscribe yourself and share WHAT you pray and WHEN. As this is an iniciative of our community  in Vienna, the document is in German. However, you’re still invited to join and share your prayer. In that way we can keep motivating each other and be a symbol of hope, sharing and seeing how many people are praying for this cause. So, to join our iniciative, there are only 3 easy steps to fulfill.

    • Choose a time

    • Choose a Prayer

    • Commit to it

    Susiec | Lemberg

Our cooperation is primarily with the Parish of St. Nepomuk in Susiec, very close to the ukranian border, in Poland. From there on, the cooperation continues with the foundation „John Paul II.“ in Lwiw, Ukraine.

Numerous volunteers take on the dangerous mission and risk their lives to bring the donated items into the Ukraine, to the people who need them – as far as Kiew and Maripol. This is why we try to fill up all our transports to Poland with donations.

From the 24th of march until the 27th of  march, P. Andrzej, the parson of Susiec visited our center. He gave us a report about the life and work at the border, about what he believes our mission as christians is right now and how we can support the work being done at the border.
